If you want to make applets you will probably need to display things
on screen, and to time things for animations.
Double-buffering will help you to reduce flickering when drawing something,
threads will do tasks over and over again with a delay that you specify.
The last example will use some intresting classes to create special
buttons and a loading screen.
This will get you started on things like ticker-tapes. All you need is
inspiration.
