| Review |
This book is ideal for programmers just beginning to learn Java.
It does not include advanced concepts like networking or beans.
Since the concepts later in the book are based on the earlier chapters, the information is cumulative and the book should be read in order, from cover to cover.
Although this is a very comprehensive book for learning Java-- this tome is definitely not a book for quick reference, or to take on the road.
Very similar to the previous edition of the book (this one includes an additional chapter on adding sound to your programs), and would therefore not be worth purchasing if you already own the first edition.
Includes access to an internet-list interface where you can ask questions directly of the author.

| Synopsis |
One of the two best introductory Java 2 books available, this text covers how to make Java programs, plus applets and applications as well. Includes a brief introduction, then goes into technical construction details. Includes the complete source code for sample programs, rather than only excerpts as you might find in other books.
|
| Publisher's Note |
This book is a fast paced and comprehensive tutorial introduction to application development
using Java. It is ideal for novice Java programmers who have some previous programming
exposure and are able to run with the fast pace. Almost all new entrants to Java are coming
from previous programming experience.
