Ilog's Java Rules Engine Chosen by Business Logic for Online Financial Services Application
Intelligent ILOG JRules component brings new level of web personalization to employee benefit plans
MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., February 8, 2000 - ILOG (NASDAQ, NM: ILOG) today announced that its ILOG JRules Java business rules engine has been selected for inclusion by Business Logic within an upcoming application that will give users unprecedented levels of customer service and web personalization.
E-finance infrastructure solution provider Business Logic will use ILOG JRules in its new employee benefits software, AccountLink, that will allow 401K investment management online.
Like other customer-focused industries today, companies providing financial services are being faced with expectations that customers will have access to their investment portfolio and other accounts whenever they want.
Meanwhile, companies are being driven to provide more personalized service based on declared/implied preferences by a customer.
This web personalization requires intelligent software to collect and process the information.
Likewise, the requirement for "24/7" customer service requires intelligent software to fill the gap, freeing customer support personnel to do other tasks.
ILOG JRules enables the application to take action based on a customer's profile, managing the logical statements (business rules) that let events drive activity.
A number of major independent software vendors have decided to include ILOG e-business rules engines because of their flexibility, small footprint of 200 kilobytes and the fact they make possible rapid application deployment.
These vendors are embedding the ILOG software components within applications aimed at web personalization, one-on-one marketing, workflow management and electronic bill payment and presentment.
Business Logic lauded the ease of integration of ILOG JRules, as well as the proven expertise ILOG has in business rules and Java development, which helps ISVs rapidly develop their applications.
Online employee benefits access requires that specific business rules be managed for security, access and transaction validation.
In the new Business Logic product, ILOG JRules will integrate with the many different rules bases at financial institutions so that employees accessing their investment account information are ensured of a secure, accurate transaction.
About ILOG JRules
ILOG JRules is a Java-based embeddable software component that allows business rules to be written using existing Java business objects.
Other benefits are easy updating and configuring, allowing rules to be defined, added or removed while the application is running.
ILOG JRules is thread-safe, meaning it can run as one of several threads in an application sharing common business objects.
This enables the development of high-performance, transaction-oriented application servers required by electronic storefronts and other e-Business applications.
ILOG JRules works on a Java client in the form of an applet, or on a server as a servlet, EJB component, CORBA component, or COM+ component.
