Venturi Tube Calculator

Your browser doesn't suppurt Java.

Venturi tube calculator. Input diameters, measured pressures, fluid density and calculate flow rates, velocities and more. Good illustration of the Bernouli principle.

Author's Notes:
Although, use of flow through Venturi calculator is mainly straight forward, some tips might be useful.

First of all, select either gas or liquid as fluid that flows through the Venturi tube. Then, start entering known values (note: first choose the unit of measure and then enter a number because when changing units of measure, new value is automatically calculated. Units of measure are in SI and English system).

First four values - bigger diameter of the Venturi D1, smaller diameter of the Venturi D2, the coefficient of discharge C, and pressure measured on the inlet, bigger diameter p1 are needed for both liquids and gases.

Then choose if pressure on the smaller diameter p2, or pressure drop p1-p2 is known, and enter either one. The other one (that is not entered by you) will be calculated together with four main values (Q, G, V1, V2)

If the selected fluid is gas then it is necessary to choose which value is known, either temperature T, or density rho. Enter a value for either, and the one that is not entered will be calculated together with four main values (Q, G, V1, V2).Flow through the Venturi tube is considered as incompressible so rho and T are constant through tube.

For gases it is necessary to enter the value for gas constant R (for air R=287 J/kgK). If the selected fluid is liquid then it is necessary to enter value for rho. Values for temperature T and gas constant R are not needed and will not be calculated, obviously.

Pressing the Calculate button, values of volumetric flow Q, mass flow G, velocity on the bigger diameter V1, velocity on the smaller diameter V2 are calculated, together with the other non entered values.

Pressing the Create report button, a new window will open with the report of calculation. In the window you can edit report, then copy and paste it in your favorite text editor and format text.
