This free password protection applet includes source code and provides the following features:

  1. Protected pages cannot be bookmarked.
  2. Protected pages are never cached.
  3. Protection can be setup so that the name of the directory containing the pages remains secret.
  4. The URL's of protected pages are encoded so that they are not legible to people who view the source of the web page.
  5. Each individual granted access to view the protected page(s) can be assigned a unique username and password.
  6. Passwords are one-way encrypted so that if someone does view the password file, they will not be able to acquire a valid password.
