<applet code="advtypew.class" width="170" height="200"> The applet tag identifies the location, class file name, and size of a Java applet. The first part of the tag code=advtypew.class, identifies the name of the Java applet. The second and third part of the applet tag identifies the width and height of the applet (usually measured in screen pixels).

<param name="text_file" value=""> The name of the text file that contains the text to be vertically scrolled. The file must reside in the same directory as the Java applet.

<param name="bgimage" value="b15.jpg"> The file name of a GIF or JPEG image that will be drawn behind the scrolling text. The file path is based starting with the directory in which the Java applet is located. If you don't want to use backgroung image, please use this tag like this:

<param name="image_xposition" value="0"> Horizontal position of the background image, in pixels.

<param name="image_yposition" value="0"> Vertical position of the background image, in pixels.

<param name="bgcolor" value="000000"> Background color, in hexadecimal RGB format.

<param name="title_color" value="ffcc00"> Color of the titles, in hexadecimal RGB format.

<param name="text_color" value="ffffcc"> Color of the text messages, in hexadecimal RGB format.

<param name="highlight_title_color" value="80a0d0"> This parameter will change the color of the titles to the specified color when your mouse moves over the applet. This will only occur if there's an associated URL for the current text. You must use hexadecimal RGB format.

<param name="title_align" value="left"> "left", "center",or "right".
This tag identifies alignment of the title messages. Can take one of these three values: "left", "center" ,or "right".

<param name="scroll_delay" value="30"> This is the delay in milliseconds between redraws. In other words it represents the speed of the scrolling. The lower the number, the faster it scrolls.

<param name="border_thickness" value="2"> Width of the applet border, in pixels.

<param name="border_color" value="d0d0a0"> Color of the applet border, in hexadecimal RGB format.

<param name="left_margin" value="10"> Margin at the left of the applet, in pixels.

<param name="top_margin" value="10"> Margin at the top of the applet, in pixels.

<param name="right_margin" value="10"> Margin at the right of the applet, in pixels.

<param name="bottom_margin" value="10"> Margin at the bottom of the applet, in pixels.

<param name="vertical_space" value="24"> To create a blank space to separate paragraphs. This controls how much space is between each paragraphs.

<param name="title_linespace" value="0"> Space between lines of title texts, in pixels.

<param name="text_linespace" value="0"> Space between lines of text, in pixels.

<param name="titleN" value="000000"> Title of the text message. (N =1,2,3...,number of message). You must start at 1 and increase by 1 at each time.

<param name="linkN" value=""> The absolute and/or relative URLs.

<param name="target_frameN" value="_self"> Target frame. Sometimes you want the URL to be opened in a particular frame or in a completly different window. Use this parameter to specify the destination of the URL to open.

</applet> The last part works like all other HTML tags and defines the end of the applet tag </applet>.

Please do not forget putting "|" charecter between items. You have to use three "|" charecter each line.

Getting Started

Place the class file (advtypew.class) in the directory containing the HTML document into which you want to insert the applet (or into a different directory, and add the correct CODEBASE= attribute).

Add the applet tag to your HTML document in the position you want Advanced Typewriter Scroll Java applet to appear.

The info parameter must be included for the applet to run. It is case sensitive, and the number of spaces between words must be identical (entirely single-spaced). If you try to run the applet and you see the message "info parameter error", it denotes a problem with this parameter.

Java is case sensitive.

Usually the easiest way to customize the applet is cut and paste the applet tag information used in the sample and modify it to fit your web page.

If you see a "class not found" message, this means what it says -- your browser can't find the .class files specified. You've forgotten to copy the .class file (advtypew.class) to the necessary directory.

Make sure that your <APPLET> tag, closing </APPLET> tag, and all <PARAM> tags have < and > brackets. Check that the value for every parameter is enclosed between " signs.

If you see a NullPointerException displayed in the browser status-bar, it's most likely to be caused by a mistake in an parameter. Check it.

If the applet runs, but you can't make it do what you want it to do, please take another look at the documentation.
